I’m a software engineer, a team manager, and a teacher. I am currently a full time teaching faculty member at Baruch College (CUNY). I live in (and love) New York City.

I’ve been:

• the Director of Engineering at the NYC Digital Service, within the NYC Office of Technology and Innovation,
• an Engineering Manager at the Democratic National Committee Tech Team, managing data and web infrastructure,
• a Senior Software Engineer working on data pipelines, infrastructure management, & full-stack web apps,
• a faculty member at the University of Michigan School of Information,
• the Director of the Summer Guild pre-college computing program,
• an instructor in the University of Michigan Python 3 Specialization on Coursera,
• a contributor to the Runestone Academy project,
• a software engineer at an e-commerce startup,
• a voter protection data fellow for the NY Democratic state party,
• a consultant working on various efforts from data processing management to effective and inclusive hiring,
• and more

I used to use Twitter, and then I used to use Mastodon, but not anymore. My personal GitHub is separate from my work GitHub so it’s pretty sparse these days. When I’m not working, I’m often bookbinding, working with film (photography) or sewing patterns, biking, something involving food or coffee, or hanging out with my partner and our cat.

I’m deeply interested in infrastructure of all kinds, digital and physical. I’ve done research in computing and engineering education and use of open educational resources in university and medical education, but my primary focus is currently teaching.
